STRAWBERRIES
The first fruits of summer are the June-bearing strawberries. Our season usually runs from June 10th through July 1st. The cold spring of 2011 made our season start one week later than usual, which is why it ran moreso into July. Later is better than having the berries ripen too early, so our strawberry season for 2011 was great! All of the berries were nice sized and very sweet! The picking season lasted longer than usual, with pre-picked starting June 16th; our first day for the U-pick/ We-pick season being June 18th, and picking was offered everyday through July 7. We still offered quarts of berries on July 8th and 9th. During strawberry season, we were open everyday from 7am-6pm for U-pick and from 9am-6pm for Pre-picked. We currently have 4 acres of strawberries with our sweet varieties being Honoeye, Jewel, and the jumbo sized Cavendish and Annapolis. The Annapolis are our early variety and the first to ripen. Next are the Honoeye and the Cavendish. The Jewel are the last to ripen, and this Spring 2012, we will be adding another variety that will ripen soon after the Jewel, so we're excited to be able to extend the picking a little longer for folks still hoping to pick berries. What's nice about having different ripening times is that each variety offers their largest sized berries during their first week, so this enables us to offer nice large juicy berries all during the course of our 3 week picking season. We have special open hours during strawberry season:

RASPBERRIES
We have two types of raspberries -- the summer bearers that usually start July 4th and are great picking for the month -- and the fall bearers which usually start giving berries in late July and give their largest yields in August and September and continue until the first week of October when we get a hard frost. During 2011, the raspberries took a little longer to ripen. Summer raspberries started July 9th and lasted for about 3 weeks, and by August 11th, the jumbo fall red raspberries were ripe. During 2011, the fall raspberries were great picking it seemed like forever and ever! We never had a hard frost, and with them ripening later, we had good picking all through October which is a first! It was great fun for everyone. Yum! We are back to our regular farm market open hours of 9 am to 6pm, and Open Daily for both U-pick or We-pick. Please call for current prices: 608-254-2311 We are open for picking every day! BLACK
RASPBERRIES
Our black raspberries have a unique flavor all their own and have become popular at our farm market for the past 8 years. These raspberries ripen all at once so their timetable of availability is quite limited. They usually start to ripen approximately July 10th and are done within 2 weeks. Despite the cold spring of 2011, these guys started to ripen on time, so it was good picking between July 13th through the 25th. Can't wait to see how 2012 will be!! We just take it one day at a time since Mother Nature really does call all the shots! Please call for picking report and current prices: 608-254-2311 With both red and black raspberries, we do freeze our excess pints at the end of each day, so it is possible for us to have these berries during all times of our open season from April 25 through October 31. These are ideal for making jam, pies and cobbler, on ice cream or in smoothies, or just eating on your cereal or oatmeal. BLUEBERRIES
Our jumbo blueberries are a real treat to pick on tall bushes that make picking easy. Blueberries are usually ripe by July 4th and continue through August 15 when all the berries have been picked and are gone until next year! We have fresh pre-picked daily, or if you would like, U-pick is available to you daily. During 2011, the blueberries were a little late in ripening, but small quantities could be picked starting July 9th, on our early variety bushes; and ample picking could be easily done starting July 13th, when all of our varieties of bushes ae ripe. The season was good picking through August 14th, and then we still had spotty picking for another week. We will keep this information updated. Because we are a farm market and grow lots of things here (!) we are OPEN EVERY DAY from 9 am - 6 pm, so you may pick berries any day that fits your schedule! If you need an earlier time or a later time in the evening, please just call us. We live right on the premises and would be happy to accommodate you! Please call us with any questions you may have: 608-254-2311 or 608-432-2100. BLACKBERRIES
Domestic blackberries, both thorn and thornless, have not wintered over successfully during the 7 years, in the past, that we have tried. We uprooted all our bushes, and until we find a variety that gives a nice yield of berries yearly, we will only have wild blackberries available and that is limited due to weather and supply. Wild blackberries ripen August 1 through September 15. You may place orders for pre-picked at our phone number below. We are sorry to not have bushes of our own that would allow U-pick. Hopefully in the future, we will find a great variety that is winter hardy! We did plant a few different type bushes the last couple years, 2010 and 2011, and since ONE of the varieties did well, (so far, so good), we will be planting more this year! We will keep you updated! Please call for updated information: 608-254-2311. MELONS
The months of July, August and September brings us juicy sweet vine-ripened muskmelons, super sweet yellow-doll watermelon, long striped red watermelon, and the dark green sugar babies, which are all of the seeded variety. Of the seedless types, we raise a large striped red-seedless watermelon, known as "Seedless", as well as a mini red seedless that is of one-person proportion. Since summer of 2006, we have enjoyed a delicious new orange seedless watermelon that became popular with our customers and that we will continue to grow as a regular item. We raise all of these plants in our own greenhouses where they have a happy warm start! And because we do several plantings of all these varieties, at different timed intervals, this is why we still have yummy melons during September! ORCHARD
FRUIT
We have a small orchard of blue plum trees, apples, and concord grapes. We have early varieties of apples, so our picking starts in mid-August and continues through September. The concord grapes are well established giving a high yield of quality grapes for juice, jelly, and wine making. We now have added seedless, red table grapes to our little vineyard, which are known as champagne grapes or dessert grapes. They are tiny and wonderfully sweet! It is always by September 1 that the grapes are ripe for picking and they have been wonderful for picking all through September up until mid-October.
